Nissan has always been serious about safety, and for the 2018 model year the Japanese automaker is upping the ante by adding standard Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) on 8 of its new models coming this year.
Automatic braking that prevents accidents
In doing so, Nissan doubles the amount of vehicles offered in its lineup with AEB. The technology uses a radar system that scans the road ahead for other vehicles. If the system detects that you are approaching another vehicle too quickly or if a vehicle suddenly stops ahead, Automatic Emergency Braking will warn the driver, and then automatically brake if needed to avoid a collision.
Automatic Emergency Braking will be now be standard on the 2018 Rogue, Altima, Murano, LEAF, Pathfinder, Armada, Maxima and Sentra (when equipped with an automatic transmission).
Part of Nissan’s Safety Shield technology, AEB is just one of many active safety features available on new Nissan vehicles. Other examples include Intelligent Around View Monitor (I-AVM), Intelligent Distance Control (I-DC), Intelligent Blind Spot Intervention (I-BSI), Intelligent Lane Intervention (I-LI) and Intelligent Driver Alertness (I-DA).
