Nissan is very excited about the 2017 Nissan Titan, and they should be. After unveiling the rugged XD version a few months ago, Nissan has just expanded the new Titan range with the 2017 Nissan Titan Crew Cab unveiled last week at the New York International Auto Show.

Arriving in late summer of 2016, the half-ton Titan will be the volume model within the full-size pickup lineup, a lineup that has been completely redesigned from the ground up and now features more power, more capacity, more versions, more luxury and more muscle.

The 2017 Nissan Titan is powered by a rugged V8 engine

The XD Titan is powered by a Cummins diesel engine, but the 2017 Titan Crew Cab will get a 5.6-liter V8 engine which features 390 horsepower. This meaty V8 will be matted to a seven-speed automatic transmission and buyers will be able to choose between 4x2 and 4x4 configurations. Eventually, a V6 engine will be added to the Titan lineup.

The 2017 Nissan Titan will be available in Crew Cab at launch, followed later on by Single and King Cab variants. There will be three bed lengths: 5.5, 6.5 and 8 feet, and five trim levels to choose from: S, SV, PRO-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve.

In terms of size, the 2017 Titan Crew Cab is 14.7 inches shorter than the XD model, but shares the same width. The cabin size is also the same.

Aggressive Style, Smooth Ride

"TITAN shares its aggressive style with the TITAN XD, but the two vehicles are completely different underneath the skin," said Steve Rhind, director of marketing, Nissan Canada Inc. "TITAN will compete in the heart of the full-size pickup segment – the half-ton – while the TITAN XD provides a unique solution for customers by bridging the cost and capability gap between traditional half-ton and full heavy-duty pickups. Between TITAN and TITAN XD, we will cover about 85 per cent of the full-size truck market."
